Congrats on the 2 new Cuisinarts!Anne Miltonhttp://everything-tasty.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5446802283239662385.post-10610913040262582612010-09-13T09:20:49.727-04:002010-09-13T09:20:49.727-04:00Rachel, as always you have the best way with words...Rachel, as always you have the best way with words; I love the "new stone tablets" remark. It perfectly captures how truly, yes, sinful this cake is. Must focus on something more virtuous, like pickles.

Also enjoyed hearing about your own Cuisinart triumphs and tragedies. I remember when I first used a processor to make mincemeat. Who knew what short work it could make of a truly laborious task.Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11068348526232036423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5446802283239662385.post-92010608846353862082010-09-12T08:02:43.874-04:002010-09-12T08:02:43.874-04:00My 24 year old plastic lid snapped on my Cuisinar...My 24 year old plastic lid snapped on my Cuisinart two months ago. Usually, I make a year's worth of pesto from the garden in a half hour with the food processor, but now I've started using a marble mortar and pestle. It is a peaceful process that makes me feel like I am living in a small village in Italy. It gives me a little time to meditate. Hmmmmn, now you have me meditating on an internet purchase of a 14 cup Cuisinart from William Sonoma.......GardenGreenAngels.comhttp://www.gardengreenangels.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5446802283239662385.post-54419194206415868452010-09-11T21:52:32.292-04:002010-09-11T21:52:32.292-04:00Oh, My---will you please HUSH UP?!!

My first Cuisinart was in 1984, and I used it to pieces---literally. It made the most fantastic coleslaw shreds and carrot cake gratings, but the times of its greatest usefulness were when we hauled the bushels of squash and cucumbers and zucchini in out of the garden.

It was like magic to me, after all those LONG days of standing there slicing or using a very dangerous mandoline. You could feed an entire bushel of squash through in a very short time, getting those slices blanched and into the freezer before a normal bedtime.

That was my downfall---I would feed in cucumbers for those two hundred jars of pickles, and just stand there mesmerized as the slices fell and the container filled. And once, I just daydreamed until the irrestible force plumb BROKE the immovable objece, and split the lid right down the middle.

So they WILL break, with too much inner pressure.

Wrote too long. Trying to get my mind off that cheesecake.RachelDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11204947567574886675noreply@blogger.com
